St. Mary’s Composite Squadron Cyber Patriot Team

For the past four years, the St. Mary’s Composite Squadron has participated in the Cyber Patriot Competition. Cyber Patriot is a great way to teach middle and high school students about cyber security. Participants not only receive training in this extremely important field but get to apply it in real world scenarios. This year we have five members on our team, and we are ready for the Cyber Patriot IX Elimination rounds which will run from October to February.

The Team:
C/CMSgt Rioux, C/SSgt Plunk, C/Amn Ferrer, C/Amn Trelles, C/2dLt Marshall

Our Coach: Capt Dennis Villar
Our Mentor: 2d Lt Eric Slankard

“The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. ┬áTeams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Washington, DC for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.”
